Postgame Notes

  • UT Arlington improved to 2-0 with the win, while Oral Roberts went to 0-2. Oral Roberts continues to lead the series, now at 7-4, while its 2-2 in Arlington. UTA travels to UTSA on Wednesday night to close a stretch of three games in five days to open the season.
  • It was a milestone night for Rebekah VanDijk and Cierra Johnson. VanDijk quickly moved up with Sun Belt's all-time blocks list with a pair of blocks. She is now 20th with 146, passing UNO's Jessica Dunham and FIU's Jerica Coley. Cierra Johnson's one steal put her in 15th in the Sun Belt record books with 249, passing ODU's Tracy Claxton.
  • Crystal Allen finished with a career-high 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting, including three 3-pointers. Cierra Johnson also had double figures with 10 points.
  • UTA outscored ORU 38-18 in the paint and 25-15 in bench points.
  • The Lady Mavs shot 50.9 percent, while ORU shot just 26.9 percent, including 23.1 in the first half. UTA used a 15-0 run in the first quarter to build a double diti lead and led by as many as 30 points in the third quarter.
  • Michaela Wright checked in at the 1:58 mark of the second quarter to make her Lady Maverick debut. Wright finished with two points and two rebounds.
