Postgame Quotes

UTA coach Krista Gerlich
Opening statement...
"We really want to protect home court and our kids have done a really good of grinding things out and responding to adversity. We have had some obstacles that have come up early in the season. Our kids have done a really good job of fighting it off and remaining undefeated."

Her message to spark the first-quarter run...
"Our defense. I didn't think we were following our game plan very well and we were letting them get down hill on us. We locked down and started defending a little bit better which helped our offense."

On the team's shooting efficiency...
"Our kids our executing pretty well and are finding good shots to take. We turned the ball over too much, but when we are taking care of the basketball we are getting pretty high percentage shots, which is a great compliment to our team for working the basketball."

Senior guard Crystal Allen
On the team reaching a 5-0 start...
"It was very big. We want to end off on a win in every game. I feel like going on the road will be a big test for us in going to a Power 5 school, so we just have to be prepared. We only have two days to get ready. We also have to look forward to every game being our first game, and not being worried about the games in the past. So we have to take it one game at a time and one win at a time. So when we play on Monday, we are 0-0 and just have to start the season over and it is a big test for us."

Senior center Rebekah VanDijk
On her 19-point performance ...
"It feels really good to be 5-0, it is great to do it two years in a row. Losing just sucks so you just want to win. Monday is going to be really important to do the little things, so I think Utah is a great team and it will be a great test for us. We have done the little things this week and we just need to continue to do so."
