Postgame Notes

  • UTA improved to 19-7 overall and 12-4 in league play. By winning Saturday, UTA clinched a winning record in the month of February, achieving its first time in program history to post a winning record in each of the first four months of the season.
  • The Lady Mavericks earned their third win in a row over South Alabama and improved to 6-3 overall against the program and 3-1 on home court.
  • Rebekah VanDijk earned her 10th double-double of the season with a team-high 14 points and 11 rebounds. VanDijk has 35 in her career and it is the second consecutive against USA this season. VanDijk earned her 1,000th point in the last meeting in January to become UTA's 18th player to reach the milestone.
  • UTA turned South Alabama over 21 times to near the team's average for the season. UTA entered fifth in NCAA Division I with 21.9 turnovers forced per game.
  • Cierra Johnson recorded six steals in the contest, moving into 24th in Sun Belt career history. She also moved up the single-season UTA mark with 78 in 2016-17, moving into sixth, beyond last year's mark of 73.
  • Ericka Mattingly followed up a nine-assist performance by dishing out six against South Alabama in just 17 minutes played before leaving the game with a minor injury. Mattingly was announced to be eligible to return, but sat out the fourth quarter.
  • The contest was UTA's senior day as Breck Clark and Allyson Te'o celebrated their final game at College Park Center. Teo finished with two points, a steal and a rebound, while Clark was unable to put up a point in eight minutes of action.
  • UTA heads to the road for the final week of the season with games on the road at ULM (Thursday) and Louisiana (Saturday). Entering the day in a tie for second with Troy, UTA will need to win at least one of the two games on the road to clinch a first round bye, pending results across the conference later on Saturday.
