POSTGAME NOTES

  • UTA falls to 13-10 on the season and 4-6 against Sun Belt competition. The Mavericks return to action Thursday, Feb. 1 against Appalachian State in College Park Center. UTA hosts Coastal Carolina Saturday afternoon, Feb. 3, at 4:15 p.m.
  • Georgia Southern improves to 15-7 on the season and 6-3 in the Sun Belt. The Eagles travel to Little Rock Thursday for a 7 p.m. (CST) tipoff. GS plays just four road games among its 9 remaining regular season games.
  • Senior center Link Kabadyundi earned his first career start Saturday night at Georgia Southern. He scored the game's first basket, just :17 seconds into the game and followed that with his second bucket just :37 seconds later.
  • Link Kabadyundi grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds to go with 8 points at Georgia Southern. His rebound total surpassed his previous career high of 6 rebounds at Niagara and at home against ULM.
  • Johnny Hamilton blocked 1 shot at Georgia Southern, giving him 54 this season - the 5th most in a single season in program history. Just ahead of his are Brandon Edwards (55 in 2013-14), Jordan Reves (57 in 2011-12) and Jermain Griffin (58 in 2006-07).
  • Kevin Hervey scored 29 points at Georgia Southern, marking the 15th time this season he surpassed the 20 point mark and the 34th time in his career. His 1,571 career points is the second-highest total in program history.
  • Kevin Hervey's 29 points equals his second-highest single game total this season. His season high was 30 points at UTRGV. His career high is 34 at Louisiana last season.
  • The coaching staffs for both teams wore sneakers as part of the NABC's annual cancer awareness program - Coaches vs. Cancer.
