ARLINGTON, Texas — UT Arlington men's basketball opens the 2026-27 season Monday, Nov. 2, hosting UNT Dallas at 7 p.m. at College Park Center as the Mavericks begin a new era in the United Athletic Conference (UAC).
UTA was picked to finish fifth in the UAC's inaugural preseason coaches' poll. The Mavericks enter the season following an 18-win campaign in their final year in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC), looking to carry that momentum into a new conference and a revamped roster.
The Mavericks return two players from last season in Stoney Hadnot and Miles Goodman, with Goodman the only returning player who saw action last season. Goodman averaged 3.4 points and 2.7 rebounds per game while shooting 45.2% from the field.
Head coach KT Turner welcomes an influx of transfers from programs across the country. Senior guard Mier Panoam brings experience from Xavier, while sophomore forward Niko Bundalo joins the Mavericks after transferring from Ole Miss. UTA also added international talent in junior forward Teodor Simic and freshman guard Kajus Mikalauskas.
The Mavericks feature five players standing 6-foot-8 or taller, providing added size and versatility as the team works to establish its identity. Defensively, UTA will look to build on a strong performance from last season, when it limited opponents to 66.7 points per game, ranking 23rd nationally.
UTA holds a 3-0 all-time advantage over UNT Dallas and will look to extend that mark in Monday's season opener. The matchup provides the Mavericks an opportunity to begin the season on a strong note before traveling to Honolulu, Hawaii, for the Outrigger Rainbow Classic, scheduled for Nov. 6-9.
