ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington baseball has added four games to the 2019 schedule, head coach
Darin Thomas announced.
On Wednesday, Feb. 20, the Mavericks will host Arkansas-Pine Bluff in a 6:30 p.m. matchup and March 7-9 the Mavs will head west to take on Seattle in a three-game non-conference series.
UAPB wrapped up the 2018 season with a 20-25 overall record and finished tenth in the final poll of the 2018 Black College Nines Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Top 10 Baseball Polls "large school" division.
Seattle had a solid 2018 season and fell to Sacramento State in the semifinals of the 2018 Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Baseball Tournament. The Redhawks closed out the season with the second most wins in program history, finishing with a 34-23 overall record. SU's 34 wins marked the third 30-plus win season in the past four seasons for the nine-year-old program.
The 2019 schedule for UTA baseball now is a 56-game slate that includes 24 home contests, 31 road games and a neutral site match-up at Globe Life Park.
The start to the 2019 slate is road-heavy, as the Mavericks will play 13 of the first 18 games of the season away from home. UTA opens the season in Corpus Christi for a four-game set with Texas A&M - Corpus Christi Feb. 15-18.
The Mavs home slate begins with the Arkansas-Pine Bluff single-game (Feb. 20), followed by the UTA Classic (Feb. 22-24), before the squad heads back out on the road for nine straight games. The Mavs will play four games during the Classic, including a pair against Stephen F. Austin (Feb. 22 and Feb. 24) and two versus Wichita State (Feb. 23 and Feb. 24).
