ARLINGTON  – UT Arlington is set for one final tuneup in the nonconference slate as it closes out 2018 with a trip across the Metroplex to face SMU at Moody Coliseum on Saturday night at 7 p.m. 

The Lady Mavericks (7-3) are seeking to pick up their eighth win in non-league action, an achievement never done prior in program history. SMU is 6-6 after dropping three of its last four games. UTA saw the end of a five-game winning streak with a heartbreaker to No. 25 USC. UTA and the Trojans were tied with two minutes to play before back-to-back long-range daggers sparked a run by USC late at College Park Center.

UTA has won its last two against its DFW rival, including a thriller at College Park Center last season. Crystal Allen knocked down a key 3-pointer with just seconds on the clock to top the Mustangs. Daiane Machado leads returning players from the meeting, having scored 10.  

The road has been friendly for UTA this season, posting a 4-1 record away from home. Cierra Johnson, becoming UTA's 19th player with 1,000 points in a career during the trip, has been leading UTA with 14.6 points per game in the five contests. Two freshmen have stared in also scoring double digits with Claire Chastain posting 13.5 and Terryn Milton averaging 12.2. Freshman Katie Ferrell has been a force on the boards with 8.0 rebounds per game in the trip.

COACHING STAFF
UTA coach Krista Gerlich is in her sixth season at the helm of UTA and enters with a record of 251-130 overall and 83-78 at UTA. Talby Justus was named the program's associate head coach during the offseason, while Jordan Vessels was named an assistant coach after serving as the team's Director of Operations. Assistant coach Ashley Crawford remains the team's recruiting coordinator. 

LOOKING AHEAD
UTA begins Sun Belt action away from home with 2019 opening at Georgia State on Jan. 3. UTA then faces Georgia Southern on Jan. 5 before returning back to College Park Center.
