Game Notes

  • UTA defeated Appalachian State 49-48 on Thursday night at College Park Center. The 49 points were the lowest in a win this season and only the second time this season under 50.
  • Rebekah VanDijk scored with eight seconds on the clock with a lay in that proved the game winner. App State missed a lay in at the other end as the buzzer sounded.
  • UTA used its 10th different lineup, breaking a streak of three consecutive games with the same starters. Lauren Billie made her second start of the season.
  • Aysia Evans entered as the first sub with three minutes left in the first quarter.
  • Billie scored a season high nine points.
  • VanDijk ended a streak of three games with 20 points or more as she finished with four.
  • Shelby Richards had a team-high 12 points, while Crystal Allen finished with 10.
  • UTA is 10-1 when leading going to the final 10 minutes.
  • UTA shot just 31.1 percent, while App State was at 32.7 percent.
  • The Lady Mavs hit on just 3-of-18 3-point attempts.
  • UTA is 44-44 all-time at College Park Center as the arena celebrates is six-year anniversary of opening in 2012.
  • UTA is 8-0 all-time against Appalachian State and 4-0 when playing at College Park Center. UTA won the earlier meeting this season 64-60 in Boone, N.C. on Dec. 31. The Mountaineers are the lone team without a win against UTA in the league.
  • UTA continues its season-long three-game homestand with the middle game against Coastal Carolina on Saturday at 2 p.m. on ESPN3. Coastal Carolina won on Dec. 29, 89-76. The stand ends on Dec. 10 against Texas State.
