POSTGAME NOTES

  • UTA improved to 16-10 on the season and 7-6 against Sun Belt competition. The Mavericks return to action Thursday, Feb. 15 at ULM.
  • Texas State fell to 14-12 on the season and 7-6 in the Sun Belt. The Bobcats travel to Louisiana Thursday, Feb. 15 for a 7:15 p.m. tipoff in Lafayette, La.
  • For the 1st time this season, UTA's starting lineup consisted of forwards Nathan Hawkins and Kevin Hervey, center Johnny Hamilton and guards DJ Bryant and Erick Neal. UTA has featured a different lineup in each of the last five games.
  • UT Arlington played an overtime game for the first time since an 84-83 victory over Louisiana on Feb. 18, 2016. The last time UTA and Texas State faced each other in overtime was Jan. 15, 1997 - which resulted in a 66-63 UTA victory.
  • Senior forward Julian Harris fouled out for the first time in his career with 1:27 left in the game against Texas State. Senior center Johnny Hamilton fouled out for the second time this season.
  • Senior center Johnny Hamilton registered 2 blocks against Texas State. He now has 58, which equals the second-highest single season total in program history. He surpassed Jordan Reves (57, 2011-12) and ties Jermaine Griffin (58, 2006-07). Reves holds the program record with 72 in 2012-13.
  • Senior forward Kevin Hervey registered 8 rebounds against Texas State, surpassing Paul Renfro (851, 1976-80), Brandon Edwards (852, 2010-14) and previous record-holder Mack Callier (857, 1999-03) for the most career rebounds in program history. He how has 858 in his four seasons at UTA.
  • Senior forward Kevin Hervey registered a season-high 33 points against Texas State, his 35th career game with 20-or-more points and his 16th this season. His previous season high was 30 at UTRGV. His career high is 34 last season at Louisiana.
