POSTGAME NOTES

  • UTA improved to 18-12 on the season and 9-8 against Sun Belt competition. UTA is 13-2 at home, 4-10 on the road and 1-0 in neutral site games. The Mavericks travel to Texas State Friday night for a 6 p.m. tipoff at the in-state rival Bobcats. The game will be televised by ESPN2.
  • Georgia State fell to 20-9 overall and 11-5 in the Sun Belt. The Panthers host Troy (Thursday) and South Alabama (Saturday) next weekend in their final games of the regular season.
  • Senior forward Julian Harris earned his second career start against Georgia State. He has 90 career appearances at UTA.
  • Senior guard Erick Neal scored 24 points to go with 10 rebounds and 7 assists against Georgia State. He now has 11 career double-doubles, 5 this year.
  • Graduate transfer Johnny Hamilton blocked 3 shots against Georgia State to surpass the program record for most in a single season with 72. The previous high was 71 by Jordan Reves during the 2012-13 season.
  • Senior guard Erick Neal registered 7 assists against Georgia State. He now has 201 on the season, the fourth-highest single season total in program history. Neal has four of the top five single season totals. He is also the all-time career leader with 735.
  • During Senior Day ceremonies, graduate transfer Johnny Hamilton proposed to his girlfriend, Rachael Ross. She accepted. He went on to score 14 points to go with 6 rebounds and 2 blocks
  • Senior forward Kevin Hervey scored 28 points with 12 rebounds for his 35th career double-double and the 10th of the season. He also has 38 career games of 20+ points, including 19 this season.
