POSTGAME NOTES

  • UTA improved to 15-10 on the season and 6-6 against Sun Belt competition. The Mavericks return to action Saturday, Feb. 10 against in-state rival Texas State in College Park Center.
  • Coastal Carolina fell to 11-14 on the season and 5-7 in the Sun Belt. The Chanticleers return to Conway, S.C. Saturday for a 2:30 p.m. (CST) contest against Appalachian State.
  • Sophomore guard DJ Bryant earned his third start of the season and his first in College Park Center against Coastal Carolina. He also started UTA's road games at UTRGV and Creighton.
  • Senior guard Erick Neal registered 3 rebounds against Coastal Carolina. He becomes the FIRST player in Sun Belt Conference history to surpass 1,300 career points, 700 assists, 400 rebounds and 200 steals.
  • Senior guard Erick Neal registered 6 3-point field goal attempts against Coastal Carolina. He has 667 in his career, the second-most in program history. He surpassed all-time leading scorer Willie Brand, who attempted 665 3-pointers from 1987-91.
  • UTA improved to 10-2 in games played in College Park Center this season. The Mavericks are 37-5 over the last three seasons.
  • UTA junior Davion Turner scored a career-high 20 points against Coastal Carolina. His previous high was 11 points in a neutral site game against Western Carolina on Nov. 24, 2017 at Niagara. He also set career highs for free throws made 9 and attempted 12.
  • UTA graduate transfer Johnny Hamilton scored 20 points to go with 13 rebounds against Coastal Carolina. The performance marks his fifth double-double of the season. His season high in scoring is 30 points against Western Carolina. He grabbed a season-high 15 rebounds twice.
