Lady Mavs Host Georgia State On Saturday

ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington women's basketball team will look to pick up its sixth victory in the last seven outings on Saturday, Jan. 26 when Georgia State visits the College Park Center. Tip-off for the contest, which will also be Salute To Service Day at CPC, is set for 2 p.m.

Redshirt Junior Brooke Alexander scored a team-high 17 points as the UTA women's basketball team cruised to an 81-48 win over Georgia Southern Thursday afternoon (Jan. 24) on Kids Day at College Park Center.

The Lady Mavs shot 52.6 percent (30-of-57) from the floor, 55 percent (11-of-20) from long distance and went 10-of-14 (71.4 percent) from the charity stripe, while the Eagles hit just 16-of-59 (27.1 percent) shots from the field and 6-of-28 (21.4 percent) attempts from behind the arc.

Alexander went 6-of-10 from the field and knocked down a career-high five triples, en route to her team-high 17 points. The Frisco, Texas native also added five assists, two steals and a pair of boards in 19 minutes. Cierra Johnson chipped in with 13 points, four rebounds and three assists. Terryn Milton added 11 points and four dimes, while Aysia Evans finished with eight points. Kelsey Johnson and Michaela Wright recorded seven points and six points, respectively, off the bench.

With 6,186 fans, including over 5,500 students, in attendance, UTA fed off the energy of the energetic crowd and opened the game with a 14-0 run, making five of their first six shots from the field, including three-pointers from Alexander and C. Johnson. The Lady Mavs went on to close out the opening quarter with a 25-7 lead and would go on to hold a double digit advantage for the remaining of the contest.

UTA IN THE SUN BELT RANKINGS
The Lady Mavericks lead the Sun Belt in scoring margin (+14.0), field goal percentage (.468), three-point percentage (.387), assists (18.0), assist-to-turnover ratio (1.3) and opponents rebounding average (35.1), while also ranking in the top three in the conference in four other categories, including scoring (2nd; 75.1) and steals (2nd; 10.1).

KNOW YOUR OPPONENT | GEORGIA STATE
- GSU routed Texas State 57-34 in San Marcos on Thursday. The Panthers held the Bobcats to just 27% shooting and did allow a single 3-pointer on 10 attempts. It was the fewest points allowed by GSU against a D-I school since the Panthers beat Samford 82-30 on Jan. 18, 2000. Allison Johnson scored a career-high 19 points with a team-high nine rebounds in the win.

- Last week, GSU won 84-80 over Troy at the Sports Arena. GSU trailed by 18 in the 3rd quarter against the Sun Belt leaders before staging a comeback and handing Troy its first conference loss.

- At 15.8 points per game, Jada Lewis ranks fourth in the conference. Walnatia Wright's 8.9 rebounds per game is fourth best in the SBC.

- Shaq Miller-McCray leads the conference with 1.9 blocked shots per contest. Jada Lewis leads the SBC and ranks 8th in NCAA D-I in minutes per game at 36.9. She's sixth in the Sun Belt in steals.
