STATESBORO, Ga. – Seeing the end of a five-game road winning streak on Thursday evening with a last-second shot from Georgia State, UT Arlington looks to get back into the win column on Saturday afternoon at Georgia Southern.
Tipping off at 1p.m. CT, the Lady Mavericks are 8-4 and 0-1 in the Sun Belt as they close out a three-game road trip against the Eagles (5-7, 0-1). UTA came back from a six-point deficit with two minutes to play on Thursday night, but after tying the game up in the final minute, Georgia State banked in a short jumper with just 0.8 on the clock to nip UTA late.
Despite the setback, the road has been kind to this UTA team in suffering just its second loss to go with five wins. UTA is averaging 71.0 points away from home, holding opponents to just 58.0.
Cierra Johnson,
Claire Chastain and
Terryn Milton are each averaging double figures during the run, with Johnson leading at 13.4 points per game. The Lady Mavs are shooting 44.9 percent away from CPC, while holding opponents to just 35.7 percent.
A pivotal component of UTA's success for Saturday afternoon will be getting out to a lead. The Lady Mavs are 6-0 when leading at halftime and 7-1 when leading going into the final 10 minutes. UTA has fallen behind early in both of its road defeats this season.
