Domangue Becomes First Cross Country All-American In @UTAMavsTFXC Program History

Senior finished 36th in a field that contained the nation's top 250-plus distance runners

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – UTA senior Justin Domangue capped his highly decorated cross country career in grand style Saturday, becoming the first NCAA All-American in school history after recording a top-40 finish at the 2019 NCAA Cross Country Championships.

Fresh off a program-best fourth-place showing at the NCAA South Central Regional, Domangue continued his November to remember by completing the 10k circuit in 31:17.9 to finish in 36th place.

"Justin is running through barriers every time he steps to the start line," UTA coach John Sauerhage said. "He's taking his ability to a level that he has always been capable of. I'm busting with pride for Justin and our team. This is just an absolutely huge accomplishment, and I'm thrilled for him and our program."

Domangue was also the highest finisher among the three Sun Belt Conference runners at the meet, and officially became the first Maverick runner ever to compete in the NCAA Cross Country Championships more than once. In all it was the seventh-ever NCAA appearance by a UTA male, and the fourth since 2016.

The top 40 runners earned All-America honors in a field that contained the top 253 distance runners in the country. The race was held at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course. Last year in Madison, Wis., Domangue placed 169th.
