Box Score ARLINGTON – Despite an hours-long rain delay, the UT Arlington women's tennis team (3-0) continued its impressive start to the season with a 6-1 home win against UTEP (1-1) on Friday.
 
Almudena Boza had another strong showing, as she picked up her team-leading 12th win of the season with a 6-0, 6-0 win against Milena Baigorria. The win marked the first time this season Boza didn't lose a game in a victory.
 
Both Momoka Horiguchi and Carla Pons picked up their 10th wins of the season Friday. Horiguchi came back after losing the first set to beat Kristen Prelle (3-6, 6-3, 6-3), while Pons beat Erandi Martinez 6-1, 4-6, 10-1.
 
The Mavericks won the doubles point behind identical 6-4 victories from Horiguchi and Pons and Boza and Carla Vives.
 
With the doubles point already decided, UTA's best doubles team this season, Nanaka Takeuchi and Lucia Natal, had its match with Prelle and Kathleen Percegona called tied at 5-5.
 
The Mavericks have a quick turnaround, returning to their home courts to play McNeese State at 11 a.m. Saturday.
