Battle Of Sun Belt’s Top Teams Set For Thursday

ARLINGTON, Texas – The top two teams in the Sun Belt Conference will battle it out at the College Park Center on Thursday, Feb. 14. UTA and Little Rock, who are riding 6-game and 8-game winning streaks, respectively, will tip-off at 7 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT | UTA AT APP STATE (FEB 9)
The Lady Mavericks led wire-to-wire in a 72-65 Sun Belt Conference win over Appalachian State on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 9) at the Holmes Center.

The Lady Mavs, who held the lead for nearly 39 minutes during the game, knocked down 51.9 percent (27-of-52) of their shots from the field, 30 percent (3-of-10) from behind the arc and 71.4 percent (15-of-21) from the free-throw line, while the Mountaineers were limited to 22-of-61 (36.1 percent) from the floor and 5-of-22 from long distance.

For the second consecutive game, Cierra Johnson led the way with a game-high 19 points. She also added three boards, two assists, two blocks and a steal. C. Johnson's 19 points give her 1,240 for her career and move her up to No. 9 on the UTA all-time scoring list behind Tracy Burr's 1,316. Claire Chastain added 17 points and six rebounds, while Aysia Evans chipped in with nine points and a pair of steals.

LEADER OF THE PACK
The Lady Mavericks have 18 wins on the season, which are the most by any Sun Belt school this season.

Cierra Johnson was named College Sports Madness Sun Belt Player of the Week on Monday, Feb. 11. The award marks the third Player of the Week honor for C. Johnson this season (2 College Sports Madness, 1 Sun Belt Conference).

UTA IN THE SUN BELT AND NATIONAL RANKINGS
The Lady Mavericks lead the Sun Belt in scoring margin (+13.7), field goal percentage (.465), three-point percentage (.394), assists (17.7), assist-to-turnover ratio (1.2) and opponent rebounding average (34.8), while also ranking in the top three in the conference in five other categories, including scoring (3rd; 74.0), opponent scoring (2nd; 60.3) and steals (2nd; 9.9).

In the national rankings, UTA ranks No. 7 in three-point field goal percentage (.394) and rank in the Top-20 nationally in assists per game (14th), total assists (20th) and field goal percentage (18th).

The Lady Mavs received 11 votes in this week's CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 Poll, marking the third time this season that UTA has appeared in any national poll.

FILL IT UP
The Lady Mavs' 100 points in their 100-73 win at Arkansas State on Jan. 17 are tied for the most points scored by a Sun Belt team in conference play this season. Troy recently scored 100 points (100-89) in their win over Arkansas State on Feb. 9.

KNOW YOUR OPPONENT | LITTLE ROCK
• The Trojans are riding an eight-game win streak and have won 10 of their last 11 games.
• Little Rock is leading the all-time series against UT Arlington (9-2), and the Trojans are 4-1 against the Mavericks at the College Park Center.
• In their last outing, Little Rock picked up a hard-fought 47-44 win over South Alabama.
