ARLINGTON, Texas — Following a brief weekend at home, the UT Arlington women's tennis team (10-5, 1-2 SBC) will hit the road again, traveling to the Peach State for matches against Georgia Southern and Georgia State.
The Mavs will open up the weekend against Georgia Southern on Saturday, March 30 at 10 a.m. before traveling to Atlanta for a match against Georgia State on Sunday, March 31 at 10:30 a.m.
UTA is coming off their first Sun Belt win of the season, a 4-1 victory over the Ragin' Cajuns of Louisiana. The Mavs lost the doubles point, but
Carla Pons,
Lucia Natal,
Liz Chileno and
Almudena Boza won their singles matches to give UTA the win.
UTA NOTES
• The Mavs have won nearly 72 percent of their singles matches this spring, led by
Lucia Natal and
Carla Pons who have a team-high 10 wins each.
• UTA will look to win their first doubles point since Feb. 17 against UT Rio Grande Valley. They have lost the doubles point in six straight matches.
• The Mavs need two more wins to have the most wins in a season since 2016, when they went 17-5.
SCOUTING GEORGIA SOUTHERN
Georgia Southern is 10-8 overall on the season with a 2-2 Sun Belt record. Paula Boixader, Luisa Hrda and Elizabeth Goines lead the Eagles in singles play with double-digit wins, while the doubles team of Emilia Bujan and Arianne De Winter is the top doubles tandem.
SCOUTING GEORGIA STATE
Georgia State enters the weekend 6-9 overall and 2-2 in Sun Belt matches. They are scheduled to take on Texas State the day before playing UTA. Daniela Ramirez has the second-best record in the conference in No. 2 singles, going 6-1 on the year.

The Mavs will return to the UTA Tennis Center for a match against North Texas at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3.
