Women's Tennis Prepares for Sun Belt Tournament

PEACHTREEE CITY, Ga. — After wrapping up the regular season on Sunday, the UT Arlington women's tennis team will head to the Sun Belt Conference Championship on Thursday for a quarterfinal match against the 5th-seeded ULM Warhawks.
 
The match is set to begin at 1:30 p.m. at the Peachtree City Tennis Center.

In addition to audio and live results, updates will be posted on the official Twitter account of the program @UTAMavsTennis.
 
Beginning in the semifinal round, all matches will be streamed on ESPN+.

2018-19 UTA NOTES
• Five Mavericks won double-digit contests this year, with four tied for a spring-high 12 wins.  Almudena Boza, Lucia Natal, Carla Pons and Nanaka Takeuchi each finished with twelve wins. 
• UTA has been dominate on courts three through six in singles play this year.  The Mavericks have won 73 percent of their matches, going a combined 52-19 on those courts this spring.
• The 15 wins on the season is the most since the Mavericks won 17 matches in 2016. Their six conference wins are the most since joining the Sun Belt in 2014.
 
MAVS IN THE SUN BELT TOURNAMENT
UTA is looking to advance to the Sun Belt semifinals for the first time since 2016.  A season ago they lost to South Alabama 4-1 in the quarterfinals. The Mavericks have not won the Sun Belt Tournament Championship, making the finals in 2015, but falling to South Alabama 4-3.
 
SCOUTING ULM
The two teams have not played this year, as their scheduled match was canceled due to weather on March 23. Shivani Majanna has found the most success for the Warhawks, winning 10 matches this year.  In doubles play, Manjanna and partner Angeles Cueto have a team-high six wins, all coming on court two. ULM finished the year 10-5 overall and 5-4 in the Sun Belt. They have lost three of their last four matches.
