Box Score SAN MARCOS, Texas – The UT Arlington women's tennis team clinched a spot in the Sun Belt Conference tournament with a win over Texas State on Tuesday afternoon, defeating the Bobcats 4-0 to improve to 14-7 overall and 5-2 in the Sun Belt.
 
Nanaka Takeuchi and Liz Chileno got the Mavs out on the right foot, taking the No. 1 doubles competition in a 6-1 victory.  Needing just one more doubles victory to take the point, Almudena Boza and Lucia Natal took care of their match in a quick 6-2 win on court three to clinch the doubles point for UTA.
 
The three singles points came in straight set wins for the Mavs, but each match had to battle to win. Carla Pons won on court one, battling for a 7-5 set one win before running away in set two 6-2. Boza put the Mavs one point away from victory, taking set one 6-1 and earning a 7-5 victory in set two to win the No. 5 competition.  Carla Vives ended the match early, completing the sweep with a 6-4, 7-6 win on court six.
 
UP NEXT
The Mavs will head to the Carolina's this weekend (April 12 & 14) to take on Appalachian State (Friday), before wrapping up the regular season against Coastal Carolina (Sunday).
