Henry Becomes First Female Four-Time All-American At UTA

Senior places 12th in the high jump to claim Second Team honors

AUSTIN, Texas – UTA's Alexus Henry closed her standout career Saturday by becoming the most decorated female track and field athlete in school history Saturday. The senior tied for 12th place in the high jump at the 2019 NCAA Track & Field Championships at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

She came up clutch at 5-10 (1.81m), getting over the third bar on her third and final try to ensure All-America honors. Henry departs the school as the first four-time women's All-American between the indoor and outdoor seasons. She also owns school records in the indoor high jump, outdoor high jump, indoor pentathlon and outdoor heptathlon.

Henry cleared the opening height of 5-7 (1.70m) on her first try and topped the next bar 5-8 ½ (1.75m) on her second attempt.

A year ago, Henry claimed the first NCAA women's individual title in school history when she cleared 5-11 ½ (1.82m) in a torrential downpour in Eugene, Ore. Saturday marked Henry's third career appearance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. In addition to winning the title last year, she placed 17th as a freshman in 2016.

Henry was a First-Team All-American last outdoor season and was a two-time Second Team Indoor All-American after placing ninth in 2019 and 10th at the 2018 NCAA Indoor Championships.
