Miranda Kramer will be honored among the elite athletes in Iowa high school athletics as she gets inducted into the 2019 Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union Hall of Fame in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

"I'm so honored to be getting inducted into the Hall of Fame," Kramer said. "It is such a humbling experience to get to stand next to some of the greatest athletes to come through Iowa."

The West Burlington, Iowa native played ball at Burlington High School where she was a two-time 4A First Team All-State selection. In her final season at BHS, she had an 18-4 record with a 0.80 ERA in 149 innings of work, striking out 255 batters. During her time with the Grayhounds, Kramer struck out over 650 batters.

Kramer went on to have a decorated collegiate career, beginning at Purdue University Fort Wayne. While with the Mastodons, Kramer was a three-time All-Summit League First Team selection and set the program records for lowest opponent batting average (.187), strikeout per seven innings (10.15) and career strikeouts (764). She spent her last season at Western Kentucky, where she became the programs fist NFCA First Team All-American honoree after leading the NCAA in strikeouts per seven innings (12.6).

Following college, Kramer spent one season as an assistant coach at West- Burlington-Notre Dame High School in Burlington and one season as a student-assistant at Western Kentucky before spending the next three years as an assistant coach at Syracuse. She was hired by UTA earlier this month to serve as the pitching coach.

"I never in my wildest dreams would think this would happen to me, but I am so beyond thankful for all those who paved the way for me that I can stand here and receive this today," said Kramer. "I hope this inspires young athletes that nothing is impossible with some hard work."

Kramer will be inducted at the Iowa Girls State Softball Tournament at 5:45 p.m. prior to the 4A State Championship game. She will be inducted alongside Susan Kies (Newell-Fonda), Kelsey Rethmeier (Winterset) and Alex Jacobson (Cedar Rapids Jefferson).
