ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington women's tennis team will play their second straight weekend at home with matches against Rice (Saturday, Feb. 1) and Colorado State (Sunday, Feb. 2). Both matches are set to begin at 11 a.m.
UTA NOTES
• The Mavs are currently 2-0 after defeating Cameron (4-0) and the 9
th ranked DII Central Oklahoma (5-2) last weekend.
•
Momoka Horiguchi needs just one more win to reach double-digits in singles play, including tournament games.
• Since last season the Mavericks are 12-2 when playing at the UTA Tennis Center.
SCOUTING RICE
Rice is currently 1-2 on the season, defeating Lamar 7-0, but falling to NC State and Oklahoma by the same score of 2-4. The doubles tandem of Anastasia Smirnova and Priya Niezgoda are ranked 37
th in the country, while Smirnova is ranked 86
th in singles. The Mavericks are 0-10 against Rice all-time, losing last season 0-4 in Houston.
SCOUTING COLORADO STATE
Colorado State is 0-2 on the season, losing to Gonzaga 3-4 and in-state rival Colorado 1-4. This will be the first matchup between the Mavericks and Rams.
ON DECK
UTA will stay at the UTA Tennis center next weekend for a single match against UTSA at 11 am on Saturday, Feb. 8.
