NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas – The UT Arlington men's and women's tennis teams will travel to North Richland Hills this weekend for the Richland Hills ITA Fall Circuit on Saturday and Sunday (Oct. 17-18).
The tournament will be 8 player compass draws with chill guarantee players three matches provided there are not any withdraws.
The women's team is coming off competition at the Waco Fall Circuit a week ago. Carla Pons had a strong opening to the season, advancing to the finals of the winner's bracket at the tournament. Polina Akimova will look to ride the momentum from the tournament as well. After falling in her opening round, she bounced back by winning her next two matches and the championship match in the North bracket.
This will be the third tournament that the men's squad will participate in this fall. Alan Sau Franco has advanced to the quarterfinal and semifinal match in the previous two tournaments. The rest of the team will look to bounce back and find their stride as they continue to play quality opponents.
This will be the final tune-up for the Mavericks before participating the ITA Texas Regional next weekend (Oct. 23-25) where they will play for a chance to qualify for the ITA Fall Nationals.
