LUBBOCK, Texas – UTA's young talent was on full display Saturday afternoon as the Mavericks men's and women's track teams completed their regular seasons at the Texas Tech Shootout.

For the men, freshman
Ismael Kone qualified for the finals in the 60 meters, where he placed sixth with a time of 6.77. His best time (6.75) came in the first round. That clocking ranks as the fastest time in the Sun Belt Conference in 2020.

Fellow freshman
Dominick Yancy placed 12th in the men's 400 meters with his season-best time of 47.65. He also now owns the fastest time in the SBC this season heading into the league meet.

Joel Bengtsson, another first-year performer, placed seventh in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles (8.07). He had advanced to the final round after posting a first-round time of 8.02, which ranks as the No. 5 time in school history.

For the women, freshman
Krystal Igbo nabbed the fourth-fastest time in school history (8.80) in the 60-meter hurdles. She ran 8.87 in the qualifying round.

In addition,
Tatyana Terrell was clocked at 55.37 in the women's 400 meters. It is the fastest time in the Sun Belt Conference this year and the third-best clocking in UTA annals.

In the field,
Darius Prescott placed seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 49-1 ¾ (14.98m).

The Mavericks will be back in action Feb. 24-25 at the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships in Birmingham, Ala.
