WICHITA, Kan. – The UT Arlington women's tennis team (5-2) will stay on the road this weekend, traveling to Houston to take on Houston (Feb. 28) and UConn (Feb. 29) at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility.
UTA NOTES
- Momoka Horiguchi currently leads the Mavericks with an 11-7 singles record. In dual matches this spring she is 3-3. Lucia Natal leads all Mavericks in dual matches with a 5-1 record.
- The Mavericks are in the middle of a six-match road stretch and will play eight of their next ten on the road. UTA started the stretch by splitting their matches against Wichita State and Tulane last week in Kansas.
- The Mavericks lead the all-time series against Houston 3-2 with their last matchup coming in 2017 in a 4-2 win at Houston.
- This will be the first matchup between UTA and UConn.
SCOUTING HOUSTON
The Cougars are 6-4 this season and are coming off a 7-0 win over Sun Belt foe Texas State. Mimi Kendall-Woseley leads the Houston singles with a 7-3 record on Court One. In doubles play, the Cougars are a combined 12-5 on Courts One and Two. Phonexay Chitdara and Sophie Geritz are 5-1 in the No. 1 spot, while Kendall-Woseley and Azul Pedemonti are 6-2 in the No. 2 spot.
SCOUTING UCONN
The Huskies are 3-4 this season and ended a four-game losing streak with a 7-0 win over Binghamton last Saturday. Mireille Moreau is 3-3 in singles matches on Court One for UConn. She is one of three Huskies that are .500 or better on the season (Doga Selen Takunyaci, Caroline Cook). In doubles play, Denise Lai and Luciana Rabines are 4-1 on the season, including 3-1 on Court Two.
ON DECK
The Mavs will head to the Sunshine State to take on Florida Golf Coast and Florida Atlantic on March 5 and March 7, respectively.
