Waco, Texas – Sophomore Alan Sau Franco had a strong showing at the UTR Waco Tournament this weekend, advancing to the semi-finals of the tournament.

Sau Franco defeated two Texas A&M Aggies along the way to his deep run. In his opening match, he defeated Pierce Rollins 7-6, 4-6, 10-8. In the Quarterfinals, Sau Franco took another tiebreaker with a 7-6, 3-6, 10-2 win over Noah Schachter. His run ended with a 6-7, 6-3, 4-10 loss to Barnaby Smith.

The Mavericks other members didn't see the success Sau Franco had. Ricardo Alban, Alejandro Hayen, Miguel Cabrera, Angel Diaz and Solano Caffarena each fell in the opening round in straight sets.

UTA will be back in Waco on October 10 for the ITA Waco Fall Circuit.
