Murray Paces UTA in 2nd Round

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Led by a second-round 75 from Madigan Murray, the UT Arlington women's golf team sits in 14th place after concluding day two of three at the Aggie Invitational from New Mexico State Golf Course on Tuesday.

UTA STANDINGS/SCORES
T-21) Madigan Murray: 73-75: 148 (+4)
T-60) Romina Gonzalez: 76-78: 154 (+10)
T-69) Heidrun Hlynsdottir: 77-79: 156 (+12)
T-69) Sydney Garber: 78-78: 156 (+12)
T-85) Connor Howard: 76-85: 161 (+17)

INSIDE THE SCORES
- Murray started her day on the 7th hole and put up five consecutive pars heading into hole 12. She played the remaining six holes +3.

- Gonzalez – who started her second round on hole 8 – played holes 8-15 2-over before she closed the back side with an unfortunate double bogey. After opening the front 9 with her first birdie of the round, she played the final five holes +6.

- Howard also began her round on the 8th hole and shot even through the first two holes before a triple bogey on hole 10 set her back. Unfortunately, several big numbers throughout the rest of the round were too much to overcome.

- Hlynsdottir opened her second round on the 9th and played the first ten holes +4 before making the turn. She struggled on the front 9 unable to roll a single birdie.

- Garber – who began her second round on the back 9 – opened with a bogey but would be able to birdie holes 14 and 15 – two of only four total birdies from UTA.

THIS AND THAT
 - UTA sits in 5th place across the 20-team field for the best par-3 average (3.13).

- The Mavericks are tied with host New Mexico State, for 4th with 112 pars.

- Junior transfer Hlynsdottir is tied for 2nd with a 2.88 (-1) par-3 average.

NEXT UP
UTA will conclude Aggie Invitational action with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start for the final round on Wednesday.
