ARLINGTON, Texas - UTA baseball head coach
Darin Thomas has announced the 2022 baseball schedule, and the 55-game slate includes 27 home contests, 28 road games and ONE neutral site games against Dallas Baptist at Globe Life Field on March.
"Once again I am excited about the schedule we put together," said Thomas. "We have a lot of RPI opportunities against traditionally strong opponents, many who were regional teams a year ago."
The Mavericks, who have historically played a competitive schedule, will do so again in 2022 as they will take on five non-conference schools who made the 2021 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament, hosting Michigan (Feb. 21), Nebraska (March 4-5), Army (March 8-9) and TCU (April 5), while playing a neutral game against DBU.
The start to the 2022 slate will begin with the first four games in the friendly confines of Clay Gould Ballpark, taking on Texas A&M Corpus Christi (Feb. 18-20) and Michigan (Feb. 21). UTA will then travel to SFA for a four-game tournament before heading to Fort Worth to take on TCU on March 1.
The Mavericks will begin Sun Belt Conference play on the road at 2021 SBC Champion South Alabama (March 18-20). UTA will then play eight of the next nine games in Arlington, beginning with a game at Globe Life Field against DBU (March 22). The Mavs will take on Troy, ULM and TCU during the stretch, with their lone road game taking place in Waco against Baylor.
UTA will then play 13 of the next 20 games on the road against the likes of Tarleton State, Little Rock, Abilene Christian, TCU, Coastal Carolina, and Louisiana, while ending non-conference play at Texas A&M (May 3).
App State will come to town May 13-15 for Senior Weekend at Clay Gould Ballpark before the Mavericks travel to Georgia Southern to end the 2022 regular season.
The Sun Belt Baseball Championship will be held at Montgomery's Riverwalk Stadium in 2022 in the capitol city of Alabama from May 24-28.
