ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington baseball team (3-2) defeated the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks (2-2) in both games of their double header on Saturday night. The Mavericks won 5-3 in game one before taking game two in nail-biting fashion, 2-1.
GAME ONE | UTA 5, SFA 3
The Mavericks used another career-day to help lead them to victory in game one.
Kody Bullard (2-0) finished with a career-high 8 strikeouts, breaking his previous record of 7 which was set a year ago against SFA. Bullard tossed 5.0 innings, while allowing just one run off three hits and two walks.
Wyatt Divis came in for middle relief, tossing 2.1 innings. Divis allowed one run off two hits. It was the first run allowed by Divis in 19.1 innings, dating back to last season.
Michael Wong picked up his first save of the season, tossing the final 1.2 innings.
At the plate the Mavericks finished with six hits but made all of them count.

Andrew Miller,
Dylan Paul and
Boone Montgomery each finished with an RBI.
Connor Aube led the Mavs with two hits and two runs scored.
Aube led off the game with a double to right field, eventually scoring off a fielder's choice from
Dylan Paul's bat to put the Mavs up 1-0.
Miller added one more run in the third, hitting the first home run of the season for the Mavericks over the left field fence.
With runners on second and third, SFA cut the lead to one with a ground ball to shortstop.
The Mavs put two more on the board in the fifth inning. Philip Childs drove in the first run with a single that found its way through the right side of the infield, scoring
Cason Gregory. Miller followed up by grounding into a double play but scored Aube along the way.
Boone Montgomery came to the plate an inning later and launched a solo home run to center field to make it a 5-1 game.
The Lumberjacks loaded the bases in the 8
th, but Wong was able to escape the inning with just one run scoring.
SFA scored one run in the ninth, but Wong clamped down, striking out the final batter to end the game, giving the Mavs the 5-3 win.
GAME ONE | UTA 5, SFA 3
David Moffat (W, 1-0) picked up his first start of the season and earned a win in the process. The junior tossed 6.0 innings, while allowing just one run with six strikeouts.
Tanner King came in relief effort in the seventh inning. King threw two innings, allowing one hit and no runs.
Zach Norris picked up his first save of the season, pitching the final inning.
The Mavericks finished with seven hits in game two.

Josh Minjarez,
Boone Montgomery, and
Sam Gotlieb each finished with one hit. Gotlieb and
Andrew Miller were responsible for the two runs that were knocked in.
For the first time this weekend, the Lumberjacks scored first. Back-to-back doubles from SFA allowed Chane Dodge to score, but that would be all that the Lumberjacks could muster.
A sacrifice fly from
Andrew Miller in the third inning scored Aube to tie the game at one.
With the bases loaded,
Sam Gotlieb hit a hard ground ball through the left side of the infield to score
Phillip Childs and give the Mavericks the lead.
It remained a tight game until the ninth inning. With two outs, the Lumberjacks managed to get runners on first and third. Dodge hit a hard ground ball to the first base that bounced off the glove of
Dylan Paul. Paul managed to recover and get the ball to Norris who was covering first in the nick of time, ending the game and preventing the runner on third from scoring to give the Mavs the 2-1 win.
