Women's Tennis Prepares for Doubleheader

ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington women's tennis will welcome Tarleton State and Cameron to the UTA Tennis Center for a double header on Saturday, Feb. 6. The Mavs will take on Tarleton State at 10 a.m. before turning around and playing Cameron at 2 p.m.

Last weekend, the Mavericks defeated UTPB and Central Oklahoma to open their season. After sweeping UTPB 7-0, the Mavericks were in a battle with UCO before pulling out the vistory 5-2. Carla Pons now has a team-high 7 wins on the season, after going 5-2 in tournament play and winning both of her matches last weekend. In their two matches, the Mavericks have lost just one singles match.

UTA will look to improve their doubles play.  Last weekend was the first doubles action the Mavericks saw since last spring. Lucia Natal and Polina Akimova went 1-1 durin opening weekend on court one.
 
SCOUTING TARLETON STATE
In Tarleton State's first season at the NCAA Division I level, the Texans sit at 2-3 overall with wins over Lamar and UT Rio Grande Valley.  The Texans will play Abilene Christian on Friday before heading to Arlington. The Mavericks own a 2-0 record against TSU all time, with their last match coming in 2015 when the Mavs won 7-0.
 
SCOUTING CAMERON
The Mavericks and Aggies are 2-2 all-time against each other, but UTA has won two straight.. The Mavs defeated Cameron 4-0 last season.This will be Cameron's first match of the season.
 
2021 UTA HOME TENNIS PROTOCOL
No general-admission spectators are permitted at home UTA men's and women's tennis matches this season.
