ARLINGTON, Texas – After a brief road trip, the UT Arlington women's tennis team will return to the UTA Tennis Center tomorrow for a Sun Belt Conference match against Texas State beginning at 11 am.
After an 11-1 start, the Mavericks have lost back-to-back matches this week, losing to both SMU and Rice by a score of 4-0. The Mavericks are still undefeated in Sun Belt play with a 4-0 record.
Despite the two losses, the Mavericks are still winning 78 percent of their singles matches.
Carla Pons leads the Mavericks with 16 wins in singles play, including an 8-1 record at the No. 4 and No. 5 positions.
Lucia Natal sits at a perfect 9-0 on the season, including a 5-0 mark on court four.
Polina Akimova was the most recent Maverick to join Pons with double-digit wins, sitting at 10-3 on the year. She has a 7-1 record on court three.
In doubles action,
Almudena Boza and
Carla Pons both sport a 9-1 which includes an 8-1 mark when playing with each other. Boza and Pons are 7-1 on court three. Senior
Momoka Horiguchi and freshman
Bruna Casasampere are 5-2 when playing together on court two.

The Mavericks will travel to Baylor on Wednesday March 31 before returning back to the UTA Tennis Center for Senior Day against Harding on Thursday, April 1.
