SAN MARCOS, Texas - The UT Arlington women's tennis team will conclude their regular season schedule this weekend travel to San Marcos and San Antonio to take on Texas State on Saturday, April 10 and UTSA on Sunday, April 11. The Mavericks will look to complete an undefeated Sun Belt season for a 5th time since joining the league eight years ago.
The Mavericks (15-3, 7-0 SBC) have won four straight matches and are coming off a 4-3 thriller in Denton, where they defeated North Texas. This will be the second match against Texas State this season. The Mavs swept the Bobcats in Arlington on March 28.
The Mavericks are led by
Carla Pons, who is 19-3 on the season, including a 14-1 mark in Sun Belt Conference action.
Momoka Horiguchi has been an impressive 9-1 in dual action and 3-0 at the No. 1 spot in Sun Belt play, while
Lucia Natal is a perfect 10-0 on the year.
Polina Akimova reached double-digit wins and is sitting at 11-4 on the year, including 9-2 dual matches.
In doubles,
Momoka Horiguchi,
Carla Pons, and
Almudena Boza are each 11-3 on the season. Pons is a perfect 4-0 in Sun Belt play, while Horiguchi is 4-1 on court two.
