COLLEGE STATION – The UT Arlington men's and women's outdoor track and field teams had their regular season come to an abrupt end on Saturday as inclement weather forced the cancelation of Texas A&M's Alumni Muster midway through the field events.
Â
Running events had not yet begun, and exactly half of the 16 field events had been completed. Prior to the meet being canceled at E.B. Cushing Stadium, the Mavericks had accomplished the below notable achievements:
- Abagail Kelly-Salo established a personal season best and team season best in the women's pole vault a first-attempt clearance of 3.80m (12-05½). She narrowly missed out on a top-3 finish in the event as she posted a 4th-place showing. The sophomore's previous best this year was a 3.65m (11-11¾).
Â
- In the women's long jump, Juleen Lewis established a personal record at 5.94m (19-06), which was also a season-best jump for the Mavs.
Â
- Marisa Fleck's 39.77m (130-05) throw in the women's javelin would have been the 5th-best in program history, but she already occupies the 4th spot with a 40.38m (132-06) delivery earlier this year.
Â
- Chante Mathews established a personal season best in the long jump of 5.33m (17-06).
Â
- In the men's high jump, Bryson DeBerry was one of four competitors to clear 2.08m (6-09¾), but after no one else cleared the next progression of 2.13m (6-11¾) he technically finished 4th in the event.
NEXT ON THE BLOCKS
The Mavs will head to the Sun Belt Championships May 13-15 from South Alabama's Jaguar Track Complex in Mobile.
