UTA NOTES
  • With the sweep over Little Rock last weekend, the Mavericks now control their own destiny as they sit atop the Sun Belt West with a 10-5 record.
  • The Mavericks return 90 percent of their innings pitched and 95 percent of their strikeouts from a season ago.
  • Josh Minjarez is closing in on a couple records for UTA. Against McNeese State he broke the all-time games play record, appearing in his 231st career game. His mark of 236 games played is also the 5th highest active mark in the country. He also has the 2nd most at-bats (844) and 7th most base hits (234), 5th most total bases (347), and 7th most home runs (23). Minjarez is also tied for 9th place in career doubles (38).
  • Boone Montgomery and Phillip Childs each enter Tuesday night with streaks on the line.  Montgomery has tied the team-high, reaching base 19 times straight time, while Childs is on a 17 game streak.
  • Connor Aube has now hit seven sacrifice flies on the season - second in the NCAA. He is just one behind the leader - Brian Leonhardt (San Diego State).
  • The Mavericks have found their groove on the weekends, winning their last five weekend series.  However, UTA is just 1-4 during that stretch in midweek games.
  • Dylan Paul leads the team and has a career-high 35 RBI on the season.  The senior leads the team in multi-RBI games adding his 9th such game on the first game of Sunday's doubleheader.
KNOW YOUR OPPONENT | TEXAS A&M
  • The Aggies have lost three in a row after getting swept by No. 5 Mississippi State last weekend, but have won their last three midweek games including two against Sun Belt foe Texas State.
  • A&M is patient at the plate.  They have been walked 230 times this season, the 7th highest mark in the NCAA.
  • The Aggie bullpen and defense has been working in unison all season long.  They have manufactured six shutouts this year, the fourth most in the NCAA.
  • Will Frizzell has been making good use of the long ball this year.  He has 13 home runs on the season, the 12th most in the country.
  • Aggie pitchers are averaging 10.8 strikeouts per nine innings this season. 5th in the SEC, but 14th in the NCAA.
SERIES HISTORY
The Mavericks and Trojans have meet 25 previous times with UTA taking 16 of those games.  In Arlington, the Mavericks own an 11-4 record.  The two teams last met in Arlington in 2019 with the Trojans taking two of the three games, but the series ended with a Maverick run-rule victory.
