Box Score DALLAS – The UT Arlington women's tennis team played in the SMU Invitational over the weekend, only losing two matches during the three-day tournament against Texas Tech, Houston, Abilene Christian and SMU.
 
Momoka Horiguchi and Tara Gorinsek both went 2-1 during the weekend. Horiguchi defeated Lauran Slisana (Houston) 6-3, 6-4 and Camryn Stepp (Texas Tech) 6-1, 2-6, 10-5.  Gorinsek defeated MJ Crisologo (ACU) 6-4, 6-3 and Katherin Jakeway (SMU) 7-6, 6-3.
 
Aana Paula Jimenez, Sarina Reinertsen and Ioana Dumitrescu each went 3-0 on the weekend, while Nika Novikova went 2-0.
 
Jimenez defeated Manasi Reddy (Houston) 6-0, 6-0, Allison Steward (ACU) 6-4, 6-4, and Drew Morris (SMU 6-0, 6-1.
 
Reinertsen defeated Blanca Cortijo (Houston) 6-2, 6-2, Ileana Mocciola (ACU) 6-3, 6-1, and Campbelle Bouchard (SMU) 4-6, 6-3, 11-9.
 
Newcomer, Dumitrescu won her matches over Sophie Gerits (Houston) 6-4, 6-4, Paula Garrote (ACU) 6-2, 6-1) and Reka Patel (SMU) 1-6, 6-3, 11-9.
 
Novikova both both of her matches, defeating Elena Trencheva (Houston) 3-6, 6-3, 10-3 and Andrea Guerrero (ACU) 4-6, 6-3, 10-6.
 
The Mavericks will have a few weeks off before returning to action for the ITA Texas Regional Tournament in Fort Worth on October 14.
