ARLINGTON – The UT Arlington track and field team continues their indoor season on Saturday afternoon as they compete at the Texas Aggie Invitational at the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium and the JD Martin Invitational at OU Mosier Indoor Track.
"We are excited to build off an excellent opening weekend," said
John Sauerhage. "I am looking forward to see how our athletes compete and build off their early success."
The track side will head to Bryan-College Station for the second straight weekend, while the field side will head up to Norman.
UTA comes off an excellent opening weekend as numerous athletes competed at a high level and were nationally ranked by day's end along with numerous personal bests.
All-American
Bryson DeBerry was named the Sun Belt Conference Field Athlete of the Week for the opening weekend of the indoor season after a terrific performance.
DeBerry opened with a second-place finish in the high jump. His mark of 2.18m/7-1.75 currently ranks third in the nation.
Additionally on the men's side, junior
Joel Bengtsson placed second in the 60 meter hurdles final with a time of 7.92, a new personal best, while currently sitting 25th in the nation..
Freshman
Iyana Gray burst onto the scene with a victory in the 60 meter final with a time of 7.46, which sits at 56th in the country. Gray would go on to finish fourth in the 200 meter with a time of 24.29, which ranks 41st in the country.
Senior
Tatyana Terrell took home second in the 400 meter finals with a time of 56.31, an indoor personal best, and is ranked 45th in the nation.
