ARLINGTON – The UT Arlington women's tennis team (5-0) will look to keep their winning streak alive on Sunday, Feb. 13 when they host Southern Arkansas and UT Tyler at the UTA Tennis Center. The Mavs will take on Southern Arkansas at 10 am before taking on UT Tyler at 2 pm.
In singles matches this spring, the Mavericks are a combined 26-4 (.867). Newcomers
Sarina Reinertsen and
Tara Gorinsek lead the pack with five wins each. Going back to tournament play,
Ana Paula Jimenez and Reinertsen lead the Mavericks with 11 wins. Gorinsek is second on the team with 10 wins.
In doubles action, the Mavericks have dropped just one match this spring going a combined 10-1 (.909).
Ana Paula Jimenez and
Momoka Horiguchi lead the Mavericks with a 3-0 record on court two, while
Carla Pons and
Nika Novikova own a 3-0 record on court three.
SCOUTING SOUTHERN ARKANSAS
The Muleriders have yet to play a match this spring. This will be the first matchup between the Mavericks and the Muleriders. Last season Southern Arkansas went 6-13.
SCOUTING UT TYLER
The Patriots are 1-1 on the season, coming off a 6-1 loss to NCAA DII third-ranked school Central Oklahoma. The Mavericks won the only other match the two squads have played, taking a 5-0 win in 1991 in Arlington.
UP NEXT
UTA will return to the UTA Tennis Center on February 20
th to make up matches against SE Oklahoma State (10 am) and Cameron (2 pm).
