Covington, LA - The UT Arlington women's golf team completed its first two rounds at the Tchefuncta Invitational from Tchefuncta Country Club on Monday with a 36-hole 628 total.
 
The Mavericks posted rounds of 312 and 316 and currently reside in 8th place. Graduate student Madigan Murray is tied for 9th place as she paced UTA with rounds of 74 and 76.

INSIDE THE SCORES
Murray

• Murray shot 74 in her first round as her card consisted of just three bogeys – which came on holes 14, 2 and 5. The graduate student was the only Mav who didn't put anything above a bogey on her card in the first round as she recorded 15 pars – the most of UTA.
• Murray began her second round on the back side and sat at +5 through the first nine holes with five bogeys but would be able to get her card back to +3 courtesy of back-to-back birdies – which came on holes 3 and 4. With two bogeys on 7 and 8, Murray tabbed a second-round 76.

Hlyndsottir

• Hlynsdottir began her day on hole 11 and played the first 16 holes in 6-over with a triple coming on 14. However, the junior was able to play her last two holes in +5 courtesy of a birdie on 9.
• Opened on the back side and played first eight holes in just 1-over before making the turn. The junior couldn't maintain that same momentum as she played the front side in +8 with a double on 5.

 
Howard

• Howard had a tough start in her first round as the senior shot 83. With a double and triple across the first ten holes, Howard couldn't recover from there but would be able to birdie hole 9.
• Howard uncharacteristically made seven bogeys and a double bogey in her first round which prevented her from gaining any momentum. However, she would be able to roll two birdies coming on 4 and 9 to cap the round of 78.

 
Garber

• Garber had a solid performance through the first 11 holes (14-6) as she played in +1 with a birdie on 16. Unfortunately, Garber recorded a triple on 10 to play the remainder of the round in +8.
• Garber – who opened on the 14th hole – played the first nine holes in +5 before several big numbers slowed her down. She was unable to roll a single birdie throughout her round however, Garber was able to record nine pars.

Ray

• The junior shot 86 in the first round as her card featured four doubles, one triple and three bogeys. Despite not being able to roll a birdie, Ray collected 10 pars.
• Ray shot began her day on 15 and shot 3-over through the first six holes. The junior followed it up with several big numbers that were too much to recover from as she capped the round of 86.

UTA will continue Tchefuncta Invitational action with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start for the final round on Tuesday.
