COVINGTON, Louisiana – Madigan Murray paced UTA throughout the Tchefuncta Invitational as the graduate student tied for 9th-place - her first top-10 finish this season - across the 59-player field. 

The Mavericks finished 8th with a final-round 319 as the squad unfortunately decreased their team score by three shots following a 2nd-round 312 and 1st-round 316 to conclude South Alabama's Tchefuncta Invitational on Tuesday.

INSIDE THE SCORES
Murray

• Murray began her round on the 11th and played in an impressive -1 through the first 10 holes as she carded eight-straight pars over 11-18. Unfortunately, two doubles put her +4 to cap the round of 75 however she would be able to roll two birdies – which came on 1 and 9.

Hlynsdottir

• Hlynsdottir – who opened on the 12th – was 5-over across the opening nine with an unlucky triple bogey on 16. The junior played the last nine in +10 after three bogeys and a double derailed her momentum.

Howard

• Howard tabbed a final-round 76 as her card featured eight bogeys, seven pars and three birdies – most of the Mavs. Howard improved her individual score by two shots after posting a 2nd-round 78.

 
Garber

• Garber – who started on 14 – shot 87 as she uncharacteristically recorded 11 bogey throughout her round with triples coming on the 11th and 12th. Garber would be able to roll her lone birdie of the round – which came on 15.

 
Ray

• Ray began her day on the back side – hole 15 – and played in just 4-over across the first five holes. She was unable to maintain that same momentum after recorded several big numbers to cap a round of 87. However, she was able to record six pars.

 
THIS AND THAT

• Murray tied for 8th in par-3's with a 3.17 (+2) scoring average and led the UTA squad with a total of 36 pars across the two-day tournament.

 

• Hlynsdottir also tied for 7th in par-5's with a scoring average of 5.11 (+1).

 
 
NEXT UP
The Mavericks will take a three week break from competition before competing in Houston Baptist's Husky Invitational that is set for March 14-15 from Riverbend Country Club in Sugar Land, Texas.
