KYLE, Texas – A strong performance from UT Arlington's Heidrun Hlynsdottir led UTA to a final-round 313 as the Mavs improved their team score by six shots following a 2nd-round 319 and 1st-round 318 to conclude Texas State Invitational action on Tuesday.

Hlynsdottir paced the Mavericks with a top-30 finish across the 65-player field as she moved up 12 slots in the leaderboard to tab a final-round 73.

Hlynsdottir

• Hlynsdottir began her round on the 14th and played in 2-over as her card featured just two bogeys, a triple, 11 pars and four birdies which came on holes 13, 16, 1 and 6.

Murray

• Murray – who opened on the 13th – was 2-over through the first eight holes. A pair of big numbers on 3 and 10 set her back for the remainder of the round but she would be able to birdie holes 8 and 12.

Garber

• Garber opened on hole 17 and played in +2 through the opening eight holes with unfortunate bogeys on 18, 2 and 4. The graduate student recorded a pair of doubles that were too much to overcome to cap the round of 78. However, she was able to roll two birdies coming on the 6th and 9th.

 
Tan

• Tan – who started on 16 – shot 84 as she played the first four holes in even before uncharacteristically recording two doubles and a triple that derailed her for the rest of the round.

 
 
Gonzalez

• Gonzalez began her day on the back side – hole 15 – and played in just 1-over over the first four holes. She was unable to maintain that same momentum after collecting eight bogeys to cap a round of 86. However, she was able to record seven pars

 
THIS AND THAT

• Hlynsdottir tied for 6th in par-5's with a 4.87 scoring average and led the UTA squad with seven birdies on the day.

 

• Murray paced the Mavericks throughout the tournament as she totaled 33 pars with Hlynsdottir trailing closely with 32.

The Mavericks will be right back on the course in two weeks as they will head to Covington, Louisiana to compete in South Alabama's Tchefuncta Invitational on Feb. 21-22 (Monday-Tuesday) from Tchefuncta Country Club.
