NORTH CAROLINA – The UT Arlington women's tennis team will look to extend it's ten-match Sun Belt Conference win streak this weekend as they travel to App State (Friday, March 18) and Coastal Carolina (March 20). Both matches will take place at 9 a.m. CT.
The Mavericks (12-1, 1-0 SBC) have won three straight matches heading into the weekend and are coming off an SBC opening win over in-state rival Texas State.
Sarina Reinertsen and
Tara Gorinsek have continued their undefeated streaks to open the season, both sitting at 11-0 on the year.
Ana Paula Jimenez has dropped just one match on the season and sits at 10-1 on the year.
The Mavericks are winning at an 80 percent clip in dual singles play this year. That includes a perfect 11-0 mark on line four and 11-1 mark on line six.
In doubles play, the tandem of
Momoka Horiguchi and
Tara Gorinsek has been dominant on court one as the duo has posted a 6-1 record on the year.
Ana Paula Jimenez and
Liz Chileno have been equally as impressive on court two with a 5-1 record, while
Carla Pons and
Nika Novikova round out the doubles play with a 5-2 record on court three.
SCOUTING APP STATE
App State enters the weekend with a 2-8 record on the year and an 0-1 mark in Sun Belt Conference play, losing to Georgia State a week ago. They are coming off a 7-0 win over Lees-McRae College on Wednesday. This is only the second time these two Sun Belt schools have played each other, with the Mountaineers taking the 2019 matchup 4-0 in Boone.
SCOUTING COASTAL CAROLINA
Coastal Carolina enters the weekend with a 6-5 record on the year and a 1-1 mark in Sun Belt Conference play, defeating Georgia Southern but falling to Georgia State last weekend. Jesse Hollins and Victoire de Samuchewicz lead the Chanticleers with seven wins on the season. This will be the second meeting between UTA and Coastal Carolina with the Mavericks winning the 2019 matchup 4-2 in Conway.
UP NEXT
The Mavericks will host South Alabama and Troy next weekend for their SBC home openers (March 26-27).
