AUSTIN – Highlighted by
Joel Bengtsson's nation-best 110m hurdles performance, the UT Arlington track and field team wrapped up the third day of action Friday at the 94th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays from Mike A. Myers Stadium.
By far the best performance of the day for UTA came from Bengtsson as the junior clocked the fastest 110m hurdles time in the nation this year with a blistering 13.54 to absolutely shatter his previous best and notch the 2nd-best mark in program history.
That 13.54 mark was incredibly almost .6 better than Bengtsson's PR entering the race, which was a 14.10 also set at the Texas Relays last year. The Sweden native blitzed the field to easily enter Saturday's final with the top qualifying time by .13 over LSU's Eric Edwards Jr. The 110m hurdles final is set for Saturday at 2:40 p.m.
Joining him in finals action for the Mavs on Saturday will be the women's 4x400 relay team of
Tatyana Terrell,
Vanessa Ugorji,
Shelby West and
Jade Bontke thanks to registering the last qualifying time of 3:40.65 on Friday. That race will take place at 4:05 p.m.
In addition to the relay team and Bengtsson in the 110m hurdles, UTA will also be looking to bring home a title in the men's high jump when
Bryson DeBerry readies for a 2:45 p.m. start in the final.

4x400 RELAY
100M
- Freshman Iyana Gray continued her impressive collegiate start by clocking a time of 11.51 in the prelims. That time was tied for the 9th, and final, qualifying mark to potentially move on to Saturday's final, but she did not advance due to tie-breaking procedures.
- In the timed final, freshman teammate Mikeya Washington established a season best with a 12.03.
- On the men's side also in the timed final, freshman Robert Griffin notched a PR (10.61), and Khalid Mendez wrapped up in 10.84.
110M HURDLES
- In the timed final – running the event for the first time this outdoor season – Lucas Van Klaveren registered a PR with a time of 14.37 to finish 4th. That raced past his previous best of 14.72 which also came at the Texas Relays in 2021.
- Also in the timed final, Nolan Walker posted a 14.69.
- In the prelims, Medric Roberson crossed in 14.44 to represent a season best, but he did not qualify for the final.
100M HURDLES
- In the women's timed final, Shelby West delivered a PR with a time of 14.23 to finish 9th. She shaved more than .2 off her previous best, which was a 14.46.
- Also in the timed final, Krystal Igbo clocked a 14.34.
JAVELIN
- On the men's side, Arthur Petersen used his sixth, and final, throw to reach 71.22m (233-08) and notch a 6th-place showing.
- Liv Cantby delivered a throw of 46.45m (152-4) in her first attempt, and that ended up being the best of her day to finish 9th in the event.
