ARLINGTON - Entering the weekend with a 14-1 record, the UT Arlington women's tennis team will play its next five matches in the friendly confines of the UTA Tennis Center, beginning this weekend with matches against South Alabama (Saturday, March 26) and Troy (Sunday, March 27) with both matches set for 10 am.
The Mavericks have used a dominate singles lineup to put together a five-match winning streak over the month of March.
Sarina Reinertsen and
Tara Gorinsek have been perfect this spring, posting flawless 12-0 records in dual matches. Reinertsen is also tied with the team-high in wins dating back to tournament play with an 18-5 record.
Ana Paula Jimenez also owns an 18-5 record, and has dropped just one match this spring with an 11-1 record in dual action. As a team, the Mavericks are winning 81 percent of their dual singles matches this spring.
In doubles play,
Momoka Horiguchi and
Tara Gorinsek have locked down the No. 1 slot with a 6-2 record. At line two, UTA is winning 91 percent of their dual matches with Paula Jimenez going a combined 11-1 with partners
Liz Chileno or Horiguchi.Â
Carla Pons and
Nika Novikova have gone 5-2 on the season at line three.
SCOUTING SOUTH ALABAMA
The Jaguars are 14-2 on the season and 4-0 in SBC play, defeating Georgia State, Georgia Southern, ULM and Louisiana all by a score of 4-1. This will be the fifth all-time match between the Jags and Mavs with South Alabama winning all four previous matches. Their last match came in 2019 when the Jaguars won 4-2 in Mobile.
SCOUTING TROY
The Trojans enter this weekend with a 6-9 record and 1-3 in Sun Belt Conference action. Their lone SBC win came over Georgia Southern last weekend. This will be the third time UTA and Troy have met, with the Trojans going 2-1 in those contests. They last met in 2019 with the Trojans coming out victorious 4-3 in Troy.

UTA will stay at home where it will take on Georgia Southern and Georgia State next weekend (April 2-3) at the UTA Tennis Center.
