SAN MARCOS – The UT Arlington women's tennis team (11-1) will begin conference play on Wednesday (March 9) when they travel to in-state rival Texas State to take on the Bobcats at 2 p.m. in San Marcos.
Tara Gorinsek and
Sarina Reinertsen continue to shine for the Mavericks, both entering the week with a 10-0 record.
Ana Paula Jimenez is right behind with a 9-1 record. Paula Jimenez and Reinertsen lead the Mavericks in wins when factoring in tournament play, both with a 16-5 record.
Momoka Horiguchi has been dominate in doubles play, collecting a 10-1 record on the season (6-1 #1/4-0 #2) while playing in lines one and two. The Mavericks have yet to lose a match on court two with
Ana Paula Jimenez going a perfect 9-0 with Horiguchi and Chileno as partners.
SCOUTING TEXAS STATE
The Bobcats are 3-6 on the season but are coming off a 5-2 win over SBC foe Arkansas State which snapped a four-match losing streak. Hana Kvapilova has taken charge in the No. 1 singles spot, playing every match with a 5-4 record. The Bobcats have yet to win a match in doubles competition, with a combined 0-16 record in dual play.
The Mavericks have dominated the series against the Bobcats, owning a 24-5 record, including winning nine straight and 23 of the last 24. Seven of the late eight matches have been won via sweep.
ON DECK
The Mavericks will stay on the road, traveling to Jonesboro, Arkansas to take on Arkansas State on Saturday, March 12 at 10 am.
