ARLINGTON, Texas --- Baseball America has listed the UT Arlington baseball program's transfer class among the top 10 in the nation at the mid-major level.
Â
"To be recognized by a major publication like Baseball America further shows the future of our program," first-year head coach
Clay Van Hook said. "Identifying top notch student-athletes is a priority of our staff, and we are excited about the young men we added to our already veteran locker room."
As a staff, UT Arlington brought in the following transfers in the offseason:
Â
Brendan Concannon – Paris Junior College
Luke Matthews – Presbyterian College
Gage Singer – Crowder College
Tyson Pointer – Odessa College
Cade McGlade – Odessa College
Caden Noah - Texas
Bryce Hackett – Tarleton State
Reed Thomas – Seward County CC
Colby Diduch – Paris Junior College
Garrison Berkley - TCU
Gabe Starks - Arkansas
Thomas Kuykendall – Northern Oklahoma College - Enid
Andrew Lucas – Arizona State
Harrison Hammond – Dallas College – Northlake
Â
"With a coaching staff made up ofÂ
Clay Van Hook,
Mike Taylor andÂ
Mike Trapasso, it's no surprise that UTA had a ton of success bringing in players from some of the best baseball programs in the region, including righthander
Gabe Starks from Arkansas, lefthanderÂ
Caden Noah from Texas and outfielderÂ
Garrison Berkley from Texas Christian," Baseball America's Joe Healy said. "It also pulled in righthanderÂ
Andrew Lucas from Arizona State and righthanderÂ
Bryce Hackett, who tallied 25 starts over the last two seasons at Tarleton State. That infusion of talent should help UTA compete better in its first year back in the WAC than you might expect given that it finished 15-39 last season."
Â
In addition to the transfer class, a pair of freshmen –
Ryan Black and
Ben Lumsden – joined the Mavericks.
