ARLINGTON, Texas– The UT Arlington women's tennis team is set to open their 2023 spring season at home against Dallas Baptist (10 a.m.) and Prairie View A&M (2 p.m.) on Saturday at the UTA Tennis Center.
The Mavericks are looking to build on a strong fall season and improve their singles records.
Bruna Casasampere finished the season with a 7-2 singles record. She also went 2-0 in singles and doubles at the Rice Invitational in November.
Tara Gorinsek and
Sarina Reinertsen finished with winning 6-5 singles records this fall. Gorinsek went 2-1 in singles play at the ITA Regional in September, making it to the Round of 16.
Reinertsen went 3-0 in singles at the SMU Red and Blue Challenge in October, defeating players from North Texas, TCU and SMU to win the title.
Senior
Liz Chileno and Reinertsen posted a team-best 4-2 doubles record this fall. The pair went 3-0 at the Rice Invitational to win the title. Casasampere and
Nika Novikova also finished the fall season with a winning 4-3 doubles record.
SCOUTING DBU
The Patriots will play their first dual match of the 2023 season against the Mavericks on Saturday. The Mavericks currently hold a 4-0 record over DBU after their most recent meeting in 2022.
SCOUTING PRAIRIE VIEW
The Panthers have started off their fall season with an 0-6 record in dual matches. UTA currently holds a 3-0 record over Prairie View after their most recent meeting in 2022.
