Men's tennis set for ITA Regionals in Fort Worth

FORT WORTH, Texas– The UT Arlington men's tennis team is set to compete in their second tournament of the fall season at the ITA Regional Event on Thursday at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center at TCU.

There will be about 100 singles players and 64 doubles teams, all from Texas schools. The Mavericks could potentially face opponents from: TCU, Baylor, Texas, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Abilene Christian, Lamar, Texas A&M- Corpus Christi and UTSA.

The main draw will feature 15 nationally ranked players, with 60 ranked doubles pairs. The singles and doubles champions and finalists will be invited to compete in the ITA National Fall Championships in San Diego.

Joan Torres Espinosa is coming off a consolation round win in the ITA All-American Championships. He defeated Martin Bugaj of St. John's 6-3, 3-6, 6-0 and will head into the tournament with a 1-1 singles record.
In the singles qualifying draw, Pedro Sasso will take on Julian Alonso Vivanco at 9 a.m. while Dante Teramo will face SMU's Kyle Sillman at 10:30 a.m. The rest of the matchups, once they are posted, will be available here.

Thursday, Oct. 19 – Two rounds of qualifying singles
Friday, Oct. 20 – Main draw doubles RD64 and RD32, followed by main draw singles RD64
Saturday, Oct. 21 – Doubles RD16, followed by singles RD32 and RD16
Sunday, Oct. 22 – Quarterfinal doubles, followed by quarterfinal singles
Monday, Oct. 23 – Semi Final singles, followed by semi final doubles
Tuesday, Oct. 24 – Finals singles and finals doubles
