ARLINGTON, Texas– The UT Arlington women's tennis team (6-1) looks to continue their home winning streak on Friday at 1 p.m. at the UTA Tennis Center against Texas Tech.
The Mavericks are coming off a successful weekend, with sweeps over UT Dallas and Collin College. They currently hold a 6-0 record at home for the spring season.
Liz Chileno holds a 5-0 record as the primary No. 1 player for the Mavericks.
Francisca Vergara also is 5-0 for singles this season, with wins between Courts 5 and 6. She has won all of her matches in straight sets.
Ana Paula Jimenez looks to remain undefeated, as she holds a 4-0 singles record.
Tara Gorinsek also has four wins, holding a 4-1 record for the season.
Jimenez and Gorinsek have been a dominant pair in doubles play as well with a 5-1 record on Court 1. They are looking to improve their three match winning streak on Friday.
Chileno and
Sarina Reinertsen have also been factors in doubles success for the Mavs with a 5-1 record as well.
SCOUTING TEXAS TECH
The Red Raiders are 8-4 for the spring season. They are currently ranked No. 47 in the nation, with wins over No. 58 Yale and No. 31 Arizona. The Mavericks are 1-4 against the Red Raiders after their last meeting in 2010. The last time UTA beat TTU was in 2003.
