ARLINGTON, Texas– The UT Arlington women's tennis team (10-2, 2-0 WAC) looks to face their third conference opponent New Mexico State at the UTA Tennis Center on Friday at 1 p.m.
The Mavericks completed their first two WAC matches against Abilene Christian and Tarleton State on the road. They earned a 5-2 win over the Wildcats and a 6-1 win over the Texans.
Doubles team
Tara Gorinsek and
Ana Paula Jimenez are heading into the match as WAC Doubles Team of the Week. They hold a 7-4 record at the No. 1 position. They have also been key in winning the doubles points over ACU and TSU, with two 6-2 wins.
Gorinsek remains undefeated in WAC singles play, tallying two wins over ACU and TSU. She defeated Olivia Sears in straight sets and Martha Makantasi in an exciting third set to move to 7-5 on the season at the No. 2 position.
Jimenez also remains steady on Court 5, holding an 8-1 record and 2-0 WAC record. She is coming off two wins over ACU's Andrea Guerrero and TSU's Elif Albayrak.
Sarina Reinertsen has seen success on Court 3, earning two straight set wins over conference opponents. She defeated ACU's Maryjoe Crisologo without dropping a game and TSU's Elsa Boisson 6-1, 6-1, moving to 7-2 on the season.
SCOUTING NEW MEXICO STATE
The Aggies hold a 8-7 overall record and a 2-0 WAC record. They have defeated conference opponents Utah Tech and Seattle. The Mavericks hold a 5-2 record over the Aggies after their last match in 2022.
