WACO, Texas – Day One of the Clyde Hart Classic hosted by Baylor started with four throwing events, two field events and six track events that saw several Mavericks compete.
In the women's 400-meter hurdles, two Mavericks took the top sports with
Shelby West bringing home the gold with a time of 1:00.69, her best time of the outdoor season this year.
Zaire Moore finished second with a time of 1:01.24, which is a PR for Moore as this was her first time running the 400-meter hurdles in her collegiate outdoor career.
In the women's 200-meter dash,
Tatyana Terrell posted a top five finish with a time of 23.96, the best time on the outdoor season in the event for the Lady Mavericks.
In the men's 200-meter dash,
Khalid Mendez set a new PR with a time of 21.21 (21.208) just missing a top 10 finish.
In the women's 1500-meter run, three Lady Mavericks set new collegiate outdoor PRs.
Krianne McBride finished with a time of 4:47.06, while
Isabel Borrego posted a time of 4:51.66, and
Scarlett Johnson finished with a time of 4:52.58.
In the men's 1500-meter run, Jeriel Algarin Marquez had a top 10 finish with a PR of 3:53.56 while
Patrick Estes set a new PR with a time of 4:00.23.
In the women's long jump,
Malaiya Jedkins had a top 10 finish with a distance of 5.51m.

The Clyde Hart Classic will conclude Saturday, March 25 starting with the women's javelin at 11:30 a.m. and ending with the men's 4x400 meter relay at 5:45 p.m.
